Accra (Ghana) September 2017. GreenTec is very proud to announce that AgroCenta won the Ghana round of the Seedstars World early-stage startups competition and will travel to Switzerland next year to compete in the grand finale.

AgroCenta, represented by CTO and Co-founder Michael K. Ocansey, was selected from among eight startups in the Seedstars Accra 2017 competition. Seedstars World, is a Swiss initiated competition to identify the best seed-stage startups from emerging markets in more than 65 countries. The competition is structured into local competitions, where the finalists are provided with air travel to the Seedstars World Summit in Switzerland. At the Seedstars World Summit, finalists compete to be crowned the Seedstars Global Winner. In addition to the Seedstars World Summit, Seedstars organizes 5 regional summits for winners of local competitions where winners are brought together with investors, speakers, corporates, incubators, accelerators, governments, and other relevant stakeholders to build bridges between ecosystems and discuss regional challenges. Seedstars World Summit finalists compete for up to $1 Million USD and additional prizes and perks. The Global Winner will be awarded a $500,000 USD equity investment with the potential to win additional prizes and awards.

AgroCenta has achieved a number of successes in competitions in the last year, including winning the SANAD Fincluders Startup Challenge, being selected for the Westerwelle Foundation’s Young Founders Program, taking 2nd place at AgriHack, and being selected as a finalist in the ICT for Social Good competition. These awards demonstrate an international recognition of the company’s value and are a testament to the dedication of the founder’s Francis Obirikorang and Michael K. Ocansey. We are very proud of AgroCenta and look forward to reporting on more successes in the future.
