ARED – Rockstart Green Challenge DeepDive

Amsterdam (Netherlands), February 2018. Last week, the ARED team was in Amsterdam participating in Rockstart’s Green Challenge DeepDive Program.  The program was tailor-made by Rockstart to support the five finalists of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2017.

Following a year of remote mentoring, the five finalists of last year’s Postcode Lottery Green Challenge, Earth EnablePond, LightyearGlowee, and ARED, all traveled to the Netherlands to participate in the Deep Dive, hosted at the new Rockstart HQ in Amsterdam. Managing Director Henri Nyakarundi was joined by Kanesa Nasser, Marketing & Business Developer Rwanda and Jeremiah Lwebuga, Country Developer for Uganda. The week-long program included masterclasses, networking events, peer-to-peer mentoring, and workshops.

GreenTec’s Karl Rheiberger, Head of Investor relations, traveled to Amsterdam to meet with the ARED team, as well as observe some of the Rockstart programs. Karl was duly impressed with the passion and dedication displayed by the Green Challenge teams as they worked their way through the Rockstart program. “It was particularly rewarding to see the cohort effect produced in the teams from accelerator participation. It was clear from many of the sessions that the teams were applying learnings from each other’s experiences in adjusting and improving their business models and strategies. I expect great things from the ARED team scaling their Shiriki Hub network and bringing WIFI to the streets of Africa in 2018” said Karl Rheinberger. We look forward to reporting on ARED’s future successes here in the future.
