Afrolynk 2018

Frankfurt and Berlin (Germany), August 2018. GreenTec and Microsoft will once again be co-powering the #Afrolynk 2018 conference along with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Corporation of International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), and the Make IT Alliance. Afrolynk and related events will take place between the 29th and 31st of August in Berlin, with the conference being hosted at the Microsoft Atrium, Unter den Linden 17, 10117, Berlin on the 31st of August.

Afrolynk, Europe’s premier Africa-focused tech and entrepreneurship conference will bring together entrepreneurs, hubs, accelerators, policymakers, chambers of commerce, and VCs within the African and European tech ecosystems to connect, discuss, and collaborate on solutions. This year’s event will feature pre-conference workshops, a fully-featured conference program, as well as the Afrolynk Start-up night at GIZ Repräzentanz, Reichpietschufer 20, 10785 Berlin.

The pre-conference workshop is organized together with the African Development Bank, the GIZ, and BMZ. The workshop will focus on answering Dr. Akinwumi Adessina’s call for African entrepreneurs to identify challenges in financing and finding support and to prototype novel financial instruments to support African entrepreneurs. The Afrolynk conference program will be divided into four sections: 1) Empowerment and Innovation Inclusion” 2) “Migration and Diversity” 3) “Employment and Skill Development”; and 4) “Future of Technology (Cloud, Blockchain, IOT, Drones, VR, and AR).” Finally, the Afrolynk’s “Make IT Happen Start-up Night” will hold a pitching contest for Tech start-ups working on achieving the UN’s SDG’s. The event will close with an after-party allowing conference attendees to relax and network.
