Onyeka Akumah (Farmcrowdy) and Brenda Kawesigye (Wazi Vision) nominated to Quartz’s list of Africa Innovators 2018.

Lagos (Nigeria), September 2018. GreenTec is very proud to report that two of our start-up’s founders are represented in Quartz Africa’s Africa Innovators 2018. They are: Farmcrowdy’s Onyeka Akumah and Wazi Vision’s, Brenda Katwesigye.

Since 2015, Quartz Africa has worked annually to identify, recognize, and celebrate Africa’s innovators. This year’s innovators represent a range of disciplines spanning the arts and culture, as well as, science, technology, and entrepreneurship. We, therefore, find it no surprise that Brenda and Onyeka are being recognized for their impact-driven accomplishments. Farmcrowdy has been steadily growing it’s signature “crowd-farming” digital platform in Nigeria, which connects farmers with farm sponsors to mutual benefit. Wazi Vision, has developed a virtual reality assisted eye-test, which helps perform optometric screenings, which when paired with low-cost and high-quality glasses helps to expand access to eye care in Uganda.

GreenTec CEO Erick Yong said “We are very proud to have two of our start-ups’ founders selected for such a prestigious distinction among such innovative groups of thinkers and doers. We are honored that companies such as Farmcrowdy and Wazi Vision have chosen to be supported by our model.”

GreenTec was duly impressed with the 2018 Africa Innovators and we look forward to seeing the results that this motivated and talented group produces.
