Farmcrowdy awarded the 2019 UNIDO ITPO International Award for Agribusiness.

Rome (Italy) and Lagos (Nigeria), May 2019. GreenTec is very pleased to report that Farmcrowdy has been selected as one of 8 recipients of the UNIDO ITPO International Award 2019 for Agribusiness. Farmcrowdy was selected from among more than 440 applications representing over 100 countries and 5 continents.

UNIDO ITPO is the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Investment and Technology Promotion Office. This was the third edition of the Organization’s International Award for “Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness” that could lead to social, environmental and economic improvements if implemented in Developing Countries. The contest offers an opportunity at international level to highlight and promote new solutions to upgrade food security and safety requirements in developing countries while creating links with the business world to establish positive synergies with the opportunity to submit the project to potential partners in the UNIDO network. The initiative is promoted by UNIDO ITPO Italy, Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, in collaboration with the Future Food Institute. Farmcrowdy CEO Onyeka Akuma traveled to Rome, Italy for the award ceremony, which was held at EXCO 2019 – the first international Development Cooperation Fair in Rome. Speaking at the event he said “[this is] confirmation of our over two years of consistent hard work, transforming agriculture in Nigeria. We believe this is only the beginning for Farmcrowdy and we are encouraged to do more.’”

GreenTec is very happy to report on Farmcrowdy’s continued success, growth, and recognition with international awards. The company has also recently launched the Farmcrowdy Group as an umbrella company for its signature agritech platform, as well as, a second subsidiary Farmgate Africa, which is an agricultural commodities marketplace to further help connect farmers to buyers.
