Frankfurt (Germany), July 2019. GreenTec Capital CFO Thomas Festerling and members of the GreenTec team will be in Accra, Ghana this fall to attend the 2019 African Green Revolution Forum. Thomas will return as a judge for the Pitch AgriHack start-up competition, while the GreenTec Capital Africa Foundation supports the event with a €5,000 prize and investment readiness training for the attending start-ups.
The AGRF is considered the world’s most important and impactful forums for African agriculture, pulling together stakeholders in the agricultural landscape to take practical actions and share lessons that will move African agriculture forward. AGRF is organized by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and partners such as CTA, YARA, FAO, The African Development Bank Group, CGIAR, IFAD, the OCP Group.
The theme of AGRF 2019 is “Grow Digital: Leveraging Digital Transformation to Drive Sustainable Food Systems in Africa.” An expert panel of 20 judges has selected a group of 22 finalists, including 11 women-led ventures, to pitch at the 2019 Pitch AgriHack event in Accra. The finalists were selected using ten criteria: proposed solution, agricultural problems addressed, unique value proposition, team composition, market addressed, current market traction, channels/paths to customers, revenues stream, planned milestones, and key performance indicators. With six representatives, Uganda tops the finalist countries, followed by Kenya with five representatives, Ghana and Nigeria with each having four representatives. A full list of finalists can be seen on the Pitch AgriHack website.
GreenTec CFO Thomas Festerling said, “I am very happy to be supporting Pitch AgriHack again in 2019 and look forward to getting a closer look at the finalists and their amazing founders.”
