Nairobi (Kenya) and Frankfurt (Germany), June 2021. GreenTec Capital is very pleased to report that Amitruck has signed a partnership agreement with Sanergy, a Kenyan start-up working to address issues of hygiene and waste-management in African urban environments.  Symbolically, the two innovating African start-ups signed the partnership on June 5th, 2021, in honor of World Environment Day.

Sanergy is a social venture that focuses on cleaning up fast-growing cities by collecting and transforming harmful organic waste streams into high-quality, safe goods.  The collected waste is recycled to produce animal feed and fertilizers using principles of circular economy.

Sanergy and Amitruck have an end-to-end value chain network of operations and efficient logistics that collects, treats and converts waste from low-income communities, businesses and agriculture.  Amitruck’s fleet is being mobilized for this purpose with specially adapted vehicles for waste collection, filling a gap which Kenyan municipal services are not addressing.

Together, Sanergy and Amitruck are collecting 12,000 tons of waste annually.  As it is estimated that Nairobi produces some 2,500 tonnes daily, the two companies have their work cut out for them. The viable partnership between Sanergy and Amitruck highlights the innovative use of circular economic principles and leveraging digital platforms into successful business models
