Boreal Light GmbH Wins The Smarter E Award in The Outstanding ProjectsCategory

Frankfurt & Berlin (Germany) August, 2021.  GreenTec Capital is proud to share that Boreal Light GmbH was selected as the winner  of The Smarter E Award in the Outstanding Projects category. The Smarter E Award recognizes solutions and concepts that draw on renewable energy, decentralization, and digitalization to intelligently connect all aspects of energy in the electricity, heating and transportation sectors. Boreal Light specializes in renewable energy solutions for water treatment facilities, designing and manufacturing solar water desalination and purification systems for off-grid communities around the globe. Boreal Light was selected for their ambitious project to supply hygienic drinking water to 28 hospitals in Kenya.

Dr. Hamed Beheshti, co-founder and CEO of Boreal Light,  accepted the prestigious award in a virtual ceremony held in late July 2021.  Following the announcement of his company winning, he said “I am absolutely proud. I’ve been following The Smarter E Award for years, and it’s now great to be recognized by the organization.”

Dr. Beheshti explained the importance and timeliness of the project recognized by The Smarter E Award. “We are in east Africa now…Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique. Because of Covid-19, our main focus is in hospitals and health clinics.”   

The award is the latest accolade earned by the impactful Berlin-based company. In addition to their expansion in Africa, Boreal Light has recently expanded into South East Asia with projects in Indonesia and the Phillipines. The company also has plans to expand into Latin American markets in the near future.
