Coliba Collaborates with Vivo Energy to Collect Plastic Waste at Shell Service Stations

Frankfurt, Germany & Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Sept., 2021.  GreenTec Capital (GCP) is pleased to share that Coliba, a GCP waste-to-value start-up in Côte d’Ivoire, announced that it has signed a contract with Vivo Energy’s Ivorian subsidiary to manage its plastic waste.  

Coliba trains persons in the “informal waste collection sector” in Abidjan to collect and sort waste plastic that is eventually sold and recycled. Collectors receive points for their plastic and are able to use these points to purchase basic foodstuffs.  

Specific to Vivo Energy, the company will equip forty of its Shell service stations with garbage cans for the collection of plastic bottles.  Read a more detailed description in French using the link below.
