Offenbach (Germany), September 2021. On September 16th and 17th members of the GreenTec Capital and Boreal Light teams attended the Impact Festival events in Offenbach in Hessen, Germany. The two days were part of a series of events of Impact Week in the area around Frankfurt am Main. The Impact Festival is initiated and organized by the Main Incubator with the goal of creating a platform that links technological solutions from innovators such as green start ups with corporations and investors in order to jointly drive sustainable transformation and fostering #SDG17.

GreenTec Capital CFO Thomas Festerling and Head of Financial Solutions Norbert Reeg were in attendance at the festival to network and discuss plans for GreenTec’s second impact fund. GreenTec Senior Consultant Nils Hafa was also in attendance, as well as several team members supporting our investees Boreal Light.

Boreal Light attended the Impact Festival as an exhibitor, occupying one of the Festival’s largest booths to display their wide range of renewably powered water-desalination systems. The company is currently executing on their upscaling strategy and has recently entered new markets in North America and South Asia.

The booth showcased the wide-range of applications of the company’s Winture® branded water desalination systems. The versatile and hardy systems are designed to be deployed in hard-to-reach, off-grid communities and are easily adaptable to brackish and marine water sources. The company also showcased an electrical cargo-bike used to assist local communities with the logistics of water transport. The company’s solution also include a variety of value-added applications such as drip and fish farming.

The Impact Festival events provided excellent opportunity and the GreenTec team was very glad for the opportunity to get better acquainted with the Frankfurt-area impact community. It was also inspiring to see the very positive reactions and high interest in our portfolio company’s solutions.

To learn more about the second impact fund that we are planning, please contact our Head of Financial Solutions Norbert Reeg or  our Relations Manager Alhaji Allie Bangura
