Frankfurt (Germany), October 2021. GreenTec Capital is pleased to announce that Francisco Schäfer Aguilar has joined the firm in the role of Associate, after completing a 6 months internship role. Francisco will apply his background in economics, finance, and political ecology in support of the GreenTec Investment Business Unit and its initiatives to increase GCP’s portfolio and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Africa.
Francisco grew up and studied economics & business administration in Frankfurt before moving to London to attend SOAS University of London for his MSc in Environment, Politics, and Development. He also studied abroad at Universidad de Granade with a focus on entrepreneurship and environment. Francisco completed several internships including one in Kampala, Uganda at a German-Ugandan startup called Bodawerk International. During his time at Bodawerk International and SOAS University of London, he became very interested in sustainability and climate change solutions that enable socio-economic development. His master thesis focused on how climate change affects conflict dynamics between pastoral communities in the northern part of Kenya, Turkana.
Francisco speaks fluent German, Spanish and English. He enjoys discussing sustainability as well as politics and sports. He enjoys rugby, football, skiing, as well as listening to music.
