Farmcrowdy is Nigeria’s first Digital Agriculture Platform focused on connecting farm sponsors with real farmers in order to increase food production while promoting youth participation in Agriculture.

Mission

Farmcrowdy’s mission is to end poverty in Africa, one farmer at a time. By focusing on empowering farmers with inputs, know-how and access to markets, Farmcrowdy hopes to increase farmers’ incomes, improve the livelihoods of millions of farming communities and families, as well as to improve the food security, access to food and reduce hunger and poverty across West Africa. Using digital financial technology it hopes to provide an alternative financing channels for locals to invest directly in agriculture.

Business Model

Farmcrowdy uses a profit-sharing model, where it splits the post-harvest revenues among farm sponsors, farmers and itself, Farmcrowdy retains a 20% portion of those profits.
Its unique selling proposition to local investors is its ability to offer access to a new asset class, agriculture, whereby investors can directly invest in a variety of crop harvests from the conveniences of their mobile phones, or home tables/ computers.

Impact
Farmcrowdy focuses on empowering 38 million smallholder farmers with necessary resources and mentoring to utilize untapped farmland, expand operation and feed the growing population in Nigeria and West Africa. Farm sponsors on the other hand , by investing in agriculture, participate in a novel cause that improves the economy and yields a healthy return.
